HBSM

The origin of the Conference can be traced back to the discovery of zero-phonon lines in organic solids and of persistent spectral hole burning in such materials (1972). Since the first seminal meeting in Estonia (1987), the Conference was held in California, Switzerland, Japan, Minnesota, France, Taiwan, Montana, France and Australia.

The Conference has brought together participants from all over the world to discuss the latest developments in fundamental science and applications of site-selective and single- molecule spectroscopy and related topics. The 11th meeting will be held in 2012 in Tübingen in the South of Germany. The program will consist of invited and contributed papers. Special attention will be paid to posters that will be displayed continuously during the whole meeting.

This eleventh edition will besides covering site-selective spectroscopy draw increased attention to fundamentals and application of nanophotonics and single-molecule spectroscopy with particularly emphasis on:

  • Single quantum systems interacting with photons with high spatial resolution
  • Functionalized optical nanomaterials
  • Quantum information processing applications.

The 11th HBSM Conference will be a privileged meeting opportunity for molecular and atomic physicists, bio-physicists, material specialists, laser and optical scientists working in the field of nanophotonics.
